Welcome to Fundraising Friday: AB Today's weekly digest of recent developments in development.
Virginia Athletics and the Virginia Athletics Foundation announced that an alumni couple has made a $1,067,000 commitment that will create a lasting and meaningful impact on the Virginia field hockey program. According to the athletics department announcement last week, the UVA alumni family had no prior connection as student-athletes or field hockey parents, but recognized that the storied program (six NCAA Final Four appearances) has historically received less philanthropic support than other sports. Coupled with a 50% match from the VAF, the investment will endow a full out-of-state scholarship in perpetuity, ensuring that future generations of student-athletes have access to exceptional educational and athletic opportunities at the University of Virginia.
Longtime supporters of Utah State Athletics, Patty and Tom Willis, have made a $750,000 gift benefiting the athletics department, athletics director Cameron Walker announced last Friday. The gift will support multiple areas within the athletics department and reflects confidence in athletics leadership and coaching staffs.
