Colorado State’s Eustachy on Leave Amid Investigation

Andy Berg

Colorado State men’s basketball coach Larry Eustachy has been put on administrative leave amid a conduct investigation.

According to ESPN, Eustachy was placed on leave just hours before Colorado State was scheduled to take the court against Nevada.

In a statement, Colorado State athletic director Joe Parker, acknowledged that he had asked Eustachy to temporarily step away from the men's basketball program while the department concludes a climate assessment. "We are diligently working through this assessment as expeditiously as possible, understanding the importance of a thorough and fair process. No conclusions have been made," Parker said.

Assistant coach Steve Barnes took the helm for Colorado State on Saturday night.

This is the second time in four years that Colorado State officials have interviewed players about Eustachy's behavior. A 90-page report produced in a 2013-14 investigation alleged that Eustachy created a "culture of fear and intimidation" and emotionally abused his players.

Eustachy's contract expires after the 2020-21 season.
