The Florida Department of Law Enforcement also released further details regarding Suggs’ misuse of her former company credit card. The investigation found that Suggs used the card 23 separate times without permission. She repaid her former employer, Florida Sports Foundation, for some of the charges, but not all.
A majority of the fraudulent charges were cash withdrawals or casino charges that Suggs listed as “business meals,” but failed to provide receipts. In total, Suggs spent nearly $24,000 on personal charges.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement claimed Suggs, “knowingly engaged in a systematic, ongoing course of conduct with the intent to defraud the Florida Sports Foundation and submitted or caused to be submitted false travel documents indicating the funds used were for FSF business, when in fact the funds were used for personal gain or pleasure.”
Suggs released her own statement this week on social media. She said, “I want to make it clear that these matters are entirely unrelated to Florida A&M University or my current role. I am fully committed to addressing these allegations through the appropriate channels. I regret the distraction caused, and I am deeply grateful for the unwavering support.”
