The small towns of Bryson and Newcastle are teaming up to support one of their own Tuesday night during the girls and boys basketball games.
Morgan Larance, a freshman at Bryson High School who previously attended school in Newcastle before this year, has been hospitalized since Jan. 20 at Cooks Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth. It's believed she has a rare type of encephalitis in which her immune system is attacking her brain instead of fighting off a virus. The two rivals will get together for a prayer before the girls game. A silent auction will be held at the gym until the boys game ends, and a live auction will take place at halftime of the boys game to help defray medical costs.
"The 'Pray4Mo' support has been tremendous. Morgan is an extraordinary young lady and a pleasure to be around," Bryson Athletic Director Jason Briles said. "It's exciting to see the cooperation between two different communities come together with the same love for such a special lady. We have great people in Bryson that are selfless in the times of need for their own, and it's great to see the love that Newcastle still shares for Morgan as well."
Larance participates in four sports at Bryson - volleyball, basketball, softball and track.
