An outbreak of the COVID-19 Delta variant earlier this summer forced an Oklahoma gymnastics gym to close its doors.

According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, 47 people were infected with the virus in just two weeks, including gymnasts, staff members and household contacts.

A report from federal health officials showed that 40 of the infected people were unvaccinated, four were fully vaccinated, and three had completed one shot. Those infected ranged from 5 to 58 years old, with a median age of 14.

Two of the unvaccinated adults required hospitalization and one was admitted to intensive care.

The outbreak occurred between April 15 and May 3.

The attack rate among infected gymnasts and staff members was 20 percent and 53 percent among their household contacts.
