The Phoenix (Ore.) High School girls' basketball team narrowly escaped tragedy after an accident totaled their school bus on the way home from the team's last game of the season.

According to News 10, six athletes, along with two coaches and the bus driver were uninjured after a car traveling northbound on Highway 97 crashed into the bus and another car, which were headed south.

“The bus driver did a great job keeping it from being much worse,” Dave Ehrhardt, the athletics director for Phoenix High School said. “Our coaches stabilized the scene and helped calm down the kids, and the families of the other kids circled back from an hour away to help get everyone home.”

The bus driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle after being hit by the car.

No one involved in the accident who is associated with the high school was taken to the hospital.
