An investigation has revealed that a group of local teenagers are responsible for setting a fire that caused tens of thousands of dollars in damage at Canon-McMillan High School's football stadium.
According to News 11, the fire got so hot that it burned through metal bleachers, which caused immediate suspiscion from fire officials.
βIt definitely was very suspicious, no reason for it to burn there, and as hot as it burned to melt that aluminum on the bleachers,β said chief Tim Solobay, told News 11.
Investigators believe a group of teenagers, possibly eighth graders, set the fire around 2 a.m. that spread to the roof of the concessions stand.
Surveillance footage shows teenagers at the facility before and after the fire.
Canon-McMillan is awaiting an estimate on the cost of the damage, and while Solobay couldn't say for sure he guess it could be at least $150,000.
