The boys’ baseball team from Notre Dame Regional High School in Cape Girardeau, Mo., was en route to a playoff game on Tuesday when the school’s bus crashed and injured four student-athletes.

According to KFVS12, the bus was traveling on MO-C near Richardson Road when it veered to the right side of the road, over corrected and then crashed into the ditch.

Four students were taken to the hospital for injuries that the Missouri State Highway Patrol described as “moderate to serious.” Meanwhile, North County District sent another bus to transport the team and coaches back to Cape Girardeau.

The Class 4 sectional baseball playoff game between Notre Dame High School and North County High School, was postponed as a result of the crash, and the Missouri State High School Athletics Association rescheduled so that the two schools competed one day after the other sectional games. Notre Dame won the makeup game, and will face Westminster Christian on Thursday evening.

In a statement, Notre Dame Athletics said, “Please pray for our shaken team and coaches, and for all involved. We will provide rescheduled game information once it has been determined. Thank you for your understanding and support.”
