It’s a big day for sports in Oakland, as a new stadium was approved and an old stadium landed a new naming rights deal.
According to NBC Sports, business telecommunications company Ring Central has agreed to purchase naming rights for Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum at $1 million per year for three years, with an optional fourth year written into the contract.
Prior to Ring Central, the coliseum had naming rights deals with Network Associates, McAfee and Overstock.com.
The new deal comes on the same day that the Board of Port Commissioners voted 7-0 to approve a term sheet between the Port of Oakland and the Oakland A’s regarding the proposed new stadium site at Howard Terminal.

The Port of Oakland had previously balked at the Oakland Athletics’ proposed new 35,000-seat waterfront ballpark, saying it could pose a number of risks to the area’s maritime industry.
The Oakland Raiders will head to Las Vegas after the 2019 season, which will leave Ring Central Coliseum solely to the Athletics, until the team’s new stadium is completed.
