West Valley College in Saratoga, Calif., celebrated the opening of its new nearly $30 million baseball complex on Jan. 26.
The new Valhalla Park complex has batting facilities, Major League Baseball-quality locker rooms, scouting equipment and seating for more than 500 spectators.
A new waterfront soccer stadium is coming to Bridgeport, Conn. In January, the Connecticut United Football Club was announced as a new MLS NEXT Pro team based in Bridgeport with a target start date of 2025. In addition to the stadium to be built for the club, the project will include a mix of residences, retail and dining space, community greens, a river walk and a hotel.
The development is expected to generate $4.5 billion over the course of 25 years, and create over 2,000 construction jobs and 1,000 permanent jobs.

- At the University of Virginia, a new 3,000-square-foot gym outfitted with cutting-edge functional exercise equipment opened in the Student Health and Wellness building at the start of the semester.
The Fried Center for the Advancement of Potential includes cardiovascular machines, dedicated treatment space, a suspension track extending over 50 feet of turf. It also offers functional fitness exercise services to students. - At Princeton University, the new Class of 1986 Fitness and Wellness Center opened this week after 18 months of construction. This is the first phase of changes for the fitness center. Phase Two is set to open in the fall, which includes a new accessible entrance and lobby, which is intended as a space where students can relax between class or a workout. In summer 2025, Phase Three involves a new space focused on functional training equipment, with turf as a floor. Once complete, the Class of 1986 Fitness and Wellness Center will measure at about 25,000 square feet.
- A high school in California is planning an approximately $2.5 million stadium renovation project. Half of the funds to modernize the stadium at Cabrillo High School in Lompoc, Calif., will come from the Lompoc Unified School District and the other half is to come from community fundraising efforts.
