Wisconsin Opens $285M Kellner Family Athletic Center
The University of Wisconsin has officially opened the doors to its brand-new, state-of-the-art Kellner Family Athletic Center. The massive $285 million facility is ready for action, and Badger student-athletes are already taking full advantage of the transformational space.
Stepping inside, the sheer scale of the building is immediately apparent. The facility features a full 120-yard indoor football field—complete with both end zones—alongside a cutting-edge strength and conditioning area, a dedicated dining hall, and a world-class sports medicine suite.
For senior athletic director Jason King, who oversees facilities and operations, seeing the athletes’ reactions has been the most rewarding part of the project.
“I love how big it is. That’s kind of for me,” King said. “When you walk in here, it’s enormous. It’s transformational. It’s going to be a transformational facility for all of our student-athletes. At some point in time, every one of our athletes is going to be in this building. That’s what I’m so excited about.”
Murray State Completes $4M in Upgrades to Rudolph Family Field at Roy Stewart Stadium
Murray State Athletics has continued its prioritization of modernizing its team spaces and amenities throughout Rudolph Family Field at Roy Stewart Stadium, having recently completed $4 million worth of major upgrades and enhancements around the facility.
The department has made major updates to the Draffen Family Performance Center, located on Level 1 of the facility, and installed brand-new FieldTurf with branding to reflect the generosity of the Rudolph Family, a new Racer navy track surface, and added a smaller auxiliary field behind the north end zone.
Future projects coming to Rudolph Family Field at Roy Stewart Stadium include a new videoboard that will be installed during the 2026 season directly across from seating structure, along with the recently-announced Draffen Family Founders Club, which will add new premium activation into the stadium.
Mobile County Plans 2,000-Seat Soccer Complete
For 14 years, Mobile County Commission President Connie Hudson has championed her vision of a major soccer complex in Mobile County, one that could someday attract championship tournaments from across the region.
While that vision began taking shape several years ago, one key piece has remained unfinished: a championship field complete with seating for 2,000 spectators and designed to help attract larger events.
That goal is likely to become a reality soon.
The first step came Monday when county commissioners approved a $461,100 contract with Duplantis Design Group for design and administrative services related to the future championship field.
