The University of Memphis has updated its plans and timelines for the $220 million Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium renovations. Work is set to take place in three phases and begin in May. It's expected to be finished before the start of the 2026 Memphis football season. Ab24 Plain Daily Digs Enews 600x400

The University of Memphis and firms Populous, Barton Malow and MFA, in addition to local partners brg3s, Grinder Taber Grinder and Allworld, are designing the project.

The first phase includes renovating the existing East Side Suite Level Two to accommodate moving media and gameday operations from their current West Side location to prepare for Phase 2, as well as other general upkeep, deferred maintenance and site prep elements.

The school district in Eastchester, N.Y., has announced a monumental facilities upgrade for the district’s athletic trainer and student-athletes.

On March 4, Eastchester High School officially opened the doors to a new, state-of-the-art training space designed to help the athletic trainer keep Eagle athletes on the field while promoting health, wellness and fitness district-wide.

The new athletic training room, housed just off the EHS main gymnasium in what was formerly a storage closet, affords Eastchester athletes easier access to top-of-the-line equipment — and athletic training services — replacing an out-of-the-way training room.

More:

  • Akron Children’s Hospital has opened a 7,000 square-foot facility at a local college. The $3.5 million sports health facility, which opened in November, offers orthopedic rehabilitation services for University of Akron athletes, students, faculty and staff, in addition to athletes ages 12 and older.

The space is adjacent to the athletes’ lockers and is easy to access for students and community members. The proximity to the university’s athletic fields also allows athletes to work on on-field movements as their rehabilitation progresses, which helps them prepare to get back to competition. The facility also offers a range of rehabilitation equipment and technology designed to help athletes recover faster.

  • In Wisconsin, the Kettle Moraine School District will build new $3 million athletic fields for elementary and middle school sports. The project will include four softball/baseball fields (skinned infields), two baseball fields (grass infields), three regular size football/lacrosse fields, three youth football/lacrosse fields, and training space for track programs. The intent is to have construction take place through the fall and for the facility to open in spring 2025.
