Fifteen Oak Creek High School students on Thursday cut the ribbon to the new stadium entrance they helped build and celebrated three students who signed onto employment with Appleton-based The Boldt Co.

Deklan Sobieski, Adam Snead and Tegan Henderson signed up to work for Boldt as members of the North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters (NCSRCC). They will start full-time work when they graduate in June.

“[My parents] are extremely proud of me,” said Sobieski, 17. He and other Oak Creek students worked with Boldt to construct a new entrance and multi-use building at the Knights Community Stadium at Oak Creek High School. Sobieski said he heard about the Knight Construction Program from a friend and added he did a little bit of everything on the job site. [Finance & Commerce]

Toledo Pickle, LLC said it has broke ground the construction of a riverfront pickleball and entertainment facility in the heart of Toledo’s Vistula District.

As part of the newest expansion of Metroparks Toledo’s Glass City Riverwalk development just north of downtown, the facility expects to offer top-of-the-line amenities for pickleball enthusiasts of all levels and a variety of entertainment options for guests of all ages.

Oregon Tech held a ribbon cutting for its newly renovated track and field facility May 9. The new track enables Oregon Tech to host track meets and will enhance local economic development through increased visitors to the region.

Renovation of the 40-year-old John F. Moehl Stadium and track began in 2021 and culminated in the ribbon cutting attended by the Oregon Tech community, local representatives, and donors.

“This renovated stadium is heralding a new era for our student-athletes and will benefit everyone at Oregon Tech, the broader Klamath Falls community, as well as the entire region,” Oregon Tech President Dr. Nagi Naganathan said at the event. “When we started this project, we made a commitment: this is not just an Oregon Tech asset; this is an asset for the community so that our students and our community members can enjoy this, and we will use this space not just for athletics but to build community in Klamath Falls.”

Oregon Tech successfully held its first home track and field meet in 12 years in late March and is hosting the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships May 10-11. [Oregon Tech]
