A high school basketball coach in Arkansas has resigned amid allegations that he engaged in inappropriate communications with a student.
According to KSNW, Arkansas City Public Schools, USD 470, said it received a report of “inappropriate communication” between Arkansas City High School head basketball coach CJ Jennings and a student, and both Winfield Public Schools and Arkansas City Public Schools immediately placed him on administrative leave.

According to KSNW, Arkansas City Public Schools, USD 470, said it received a report of “inappropriate communication” between Arkansas City High School head basketball coach CJ Jennings and a student, and both Winfield Public Schools and Arkansas City Public Schools immediately placed him on administrative leave.
The USD 470 Board of Education accepted Jennings’ resignation at a meeting on Monday night.
USD 470 notified the Arkansas City police department immediately upon hearing about the communications, but the ACPD has not currently opened an investigation into the matter.
“We are working closely with Winfield Public Schools and the Special Education Services Cooperative and cannot share additional details at this time. Please be assured that we take these allegations very seriously and will provide updates when possible. We appreciate our school community’s support as we address this situation,” USD 470 said in a statement.
Jennings was the basketball coach at Arkansas City High School but was employed by USD 465 in Winfield.
