HNTB Releases Renderings for New Dallas Stars Arena
Architecture studio HNTB has unveiled the design of an 18,000-seat arena in Plano, Texas, for the Dallas Stars NHL team.
Set to be built as part of a wider "year-round district", the arena will be the permanent home for the Dallas Stars National Hockey League (NHL) team.
The area will be located alongside the Dallas North Tollway, around 20 miles north of its current home in the American Airlines Center in Downtown Dallas.
Utica Surf FC Opens New Thrive Athletic Center
Utica Surf SC just kicked off a new chapter, celebrating its grand opening at Thrive Athletic Center in New Hartford.
The Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting Monday to welcome the Utica-based youth soccer club to its new home, according to a press release.
Utica Surf SC was created to give local athletes a chance to play elite soccer without leaving the Mohawk Valley.
The club is part of the Surf Soccer network and focuses on professional coaching, year-round training and national player pathways, all while staying committed to the community.
Full Building Permit Issued for DePaul Basketball Practice Facility
A full building permit has been issued for the new DePaul Basketball practice facility. Planned for the northwest corner of W. Belden Ave and N. Sheffield Ave, the new facility will rise across the street from the current Sullivan Athletic Center. The site is home to four 1890s row houses as well as a 1925 courtyard building on the corner of W. Belden Ave and N. Sheffield Ave, all of which will be demolished to make way for the new construction.
Designed by HNTB and Antunovich Associates, the $42.4 million basketball facility topping out at 72 feet tall will feature a brick façade that mirrors the aesthetic of the Lincoln Park neighborhood, with a pitched roof that pays homage to DePaul's former Lincoln Park arena, Alumni Hall. Floor-to-ceiling glass around the basketball gyms will offer views of the surrounding neighborhood and wider city context.
