UTSA Athletics will break ground on its more than 53,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art Basketball and Volleyball Training Facility at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 18.
The facility, which will be completed at a cost of more than $35 million, will be located next to the Roadrunner Athletics Center of Excellence on Barshop Blvd and will house the daily operations of the UTSA men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball programs. It will feature two full-sized NCAA practice courts, locker rooms and a team lounge for each program, a weight room, an athletic training/hydrotherapy space, team meeting rooms and coaches offices for each of the three programs.
The Basketball and Volleyball Training Facility is part of a partnership with Bexar County and the City of San Antonio, each of which is investing $5 million to the project. As part of the construction process, there is a funding agreement similar to the Roadrunner Athletics Center for Excellence and the Park West Fieldhouse.[UTSA]

The owners of the Energy FC are launching a community-wide survey Thursday to collect ideas and suggestions for food and beverage preferences, seating arrangements, amenities and programming as designs are finalized for construction of a $71 million stadium to be built south of Lower Bricktown.
When the team sold to an investment group led by Christian Kanady, the purchase came with a promised donation to the city of 7.2 acres of land south of Lower Bricktown by the owners of the Energy FC soccer team. The deed to the property was transferred to the city on Tuesday.
As part of ramp-up to construction starting next year and opening in 2027, Kanady’s group, Echo, recently launched OKC for Soccer | OKC Es Fútbol, a 33-member committee formed to expand community ties with the soccer team and a planned women’s team. The survey also coincides with a likely rebranding. [The Oklahoman]
