Promising to maintain the historic venue as one of the best in college football, Florida State officials said the massive $265 million “Transformation of Doak Campbell Stadium” that was approved in the fall of 2023 is set to be completed for the Seminoles’ season opener against Alabama on Aug. 30.

Promising to maintain the historic venue as one of the best in college football, Florida State officials said the massive $265 million “Transformation of Doak Campbell Stadium” that was approved in the fall of 2023 is set to be completed for the Seminoles’ season opener against Alabama on Aug. 30.
“It’s amazing, classy,” said FSU Vice President and Athletic Director Michael Alford.
“We are doing things in a collegiate facility that haven’t been done. The comfort and versatility of the building is just going to be something that’s really going to stand out.”

$50M Sports Complex Proposed for Downtown Brown Deer
Milwaukee-based real estate developer Cobalt Partners LLC plans to develop a $50 million youth sports and events complex in Brown Deer, pending village approval.
The complex is proposed for a 16-acre vacant site at 8600 N. Arbon Drive, just south of Brown Deer Road, according to village documents.
The proposed development envisions a "vibrant, walkable district that integrates sports and recreation with hospitality, small-scale retail, and community gathering spaces mindful of the existing environment," a Cobalt Partners news release said.

Lake Orion Township Approves $899K Natatorium Renovation
The natatorium at the Great Lakes Athletic Club, Orion Township’s community center, is getting an upgrade after the Orion Township Board of Trustees voted 6-0 on July 9 to approve $899,000 in repairs and renovations. Trustee Carrie Hilgendorf was absent from the meeting with notice.
The board previously authorized proceeding with the plans and design for the project at its May 19 meeting. The GLAC Renovation Fund Balance currently has $1,105,513.41 that has not yet been committed to any contract. If the board approves this construction change order, $206,513.41 will remain for future phases of the GLAC construction project, according to township documents.
The township closed on the purchase of the nearly 80,000 square foot athletic club in December 2023, paying $9 million for the facility.
