Breaking Ground

Creighton University broke ground on a new 50,000-square-foot Sports Performance Center, which will serve the university’s 300 student-athletes, coaches and staff. The center, part of Creighton’s $300 million Fly Together initiative, will be completed by 2027 and located at 20th and Burt Streets.

Mount Prospect, Ill., broke ground on a new pool and recreation center. The two-story recreation center will include a gymnasium, a walking track, a dance studio, a multigenerational room, multipurpose rooms, an art studio and a preschool room. Six pickleball courts will be installed to the east of the existing tennis courts and will feature fencing and wind screens similar to the tennis courts. A skate park and basketball court will be located east of the playground.

A joint venture of Clark Construction and D.A. Everett Construction will lead the $800 million renovation of the Carolina Panthers’ Bank of America Stadium. Work will begin in 2026, and in addition to the renovation, the project will include the construction of an indoor field house on the team’s existing 9-acre practice field near the stadium.

The University of South Florida athletics department has released plans for the TGH Center for Athletic Excellence, the future home of USF football operations and a central component of the university’s transformational on-campus stadium project, scheduled for completion in fall 2027. The 150,000-square-foot facility will be directly connected to the stadium and located adjacent to the Bulls’ current Porter Family Indoor Performance Facility and practice fields on the east side of the Tampa campus.

Lacking sports fields and stadiums needed to meet growing demand, Fort Worth, Texas, has submitted plans to invest roughly $82 million into local athletic fields over the next 12 years. About $40 million to $50 million would fund a new baseball and softball diamond complex, while another $48 million would go toward improvements to current stadiums and parks.

Grand Openings

Westside High School in Omaha, Neb., cut the ribbon on the first phase of a $34 million athletic complex. The New Life Complex’s centerpiece is an aquatics facility that brings Olympic-standard aquatics infrastructure to the high school level, including increased depth and expanded dimensions compared to the school’s previous pool. The project also includes a new weight room and sports medicine center. Phase two of the project is on track for year-end completion, and Westside students will gain access to the full complex next semester.

Fort Thomas Schools in Northern Kentucky opened the doors to a new $19 million athletics complex. The project includes a new fieldhouse, a concessions plaza, a referees’ room, a multipurpose room, locker rooms, an athletic training space, coaches’ offices, and a Bluebird-blue track for the hosting of district and regional meets.
