UNC Asheville Cuts Ribbon on New Golf Center

UNC Asheville Athletics has officially unveiled the Sherri and Rob Daniels Golf Center, a new on-campus practice facility for the UNC Asheville women's golf program.

In the fall of 2024, the women's golf team lost its practice facility as a result of Hurricane Helene. Throughout portions of 2025, the team utilized a temporary practice space provided by the Country Club of Asheville while the department worked to identify a permanent on-campus solution.

During this period, Sherri and Rob Daniels were serving as mentors in the athletic department's Leaders for Leaders program. When the couple asked their mentee how they could best support the program, the student-athlete shared the team's need for a dedicated space—one that included lockers, practice areas, and a place to gather on campus.

McDonald County Plans $1.2M Renovation of Athletic Facilities

McDonald County High School will transform its athletic facilities with a comprehensive $1.2 million renovation project designed to improve safety and enhance the experience for students, athletes and community members. The district has secured funding for the major overhaul, which will address longstanding infrastructure issues at the school's football stadium and surrounding facilities.

"Safety focus first," Board of Education President Josh Banta said. "Safe experiences for the students, safe experiences for our community and visitors. After that, we're kind of looking at how we can impact the most amount of students possible."

The centerpiece of the renovation involves constructing new bleachers for the home team side, complete with ADA accessible ramps and seating arrangements. The current bleacher system presents significant safety hazards and accessibility challenges for community members attending games and events.

Marietta (Okla.) Schools Seeks $3.8M Bond for Athletic Facilities Renovations

Voters in Marietta’s school district will decide next month on a $3.89 million bond for athletic facility improvements that wouldn’t increase property taxes.

The district is focusing on two projects with the bond money. The more expensive project involves building a new baseball facility for $2.2 million.

“Right now, our baseball boys are dressing in a portable building and they’ve been there for several years and it’s their turn to get an upgrade for their facilities,” said Brandi Naylor, superintendent.

The new baseball facility would include dedicated locker rooms for players, a new concession stand and public restrooms.
