Manitou Springs Pool and Fitness Center Opens Following Renovations
“It’s important because it has history, and the history that is involved here is, you know, we’ve had people… come up to me and said, you know, they’re adults, they brought their children here. They said, ‘I remember swimming here when I was a child and taking swimming lessons,'” said Phil Moya, Aquatics and Fitness Center Manager.
The city is offering 25% off memberships and punch passes on Feb. 9 to celebrate the grand reopening, with discounts continuing through Feb. 11. Guests who sign up for swimming lessons that day will also get 10% off their first session.
Schenectady County Moves Forward With $125M Aquatics Center Despite Cost Increase
The plan for the aquatic center was first approved in May 2024 as part of an agreement between SUNY Schenectady County Community College, the Capital Region Aquatic Center and the county. At the time, the project was estimated to cost $41 million.
“This project represents the kind of strategic, long-term investment the County Legislature has prioritized — one that strengthens our economy, supports education and public safety, and delivers lasting value to the community,” Schenectady County Legislature Chair Gary Hughes said.
The 146,825-square-foot center will reportedly feature a 50-meter Olympic- and NCAA-compliant competition pool, a diving well with springboards and platforms up to 10 meters and seating for 1,200 spectators. Non-swimming amenities will include classrooms, media spaces, meeting facilities and more.
