The Baylor University athletics department has announced that tailgating for football games is finding a new home in the backyard of McLane Stadium as a part of the school’s ‘Fan First Era.’
According to BaylorBears, tailgating operations for the 2026 football season are being brought back in-house.
“Baylor fans deserve a festive, high-energy tailgating experience that honors the legacy and traditions of past Bears while creating new moments of connection for current and future Bears — a place alive with color, movement, music, and laughter that feels authentic, welcoming, and unmistakably Baylor,” said deputy athletic director Jovan Overshown.

The new tailgating experience will feature lower pricing, Baylor-inspired add-ons for a personalized experience, and fan activations that focus on community and tradition.
Baylor will open reservations for the tailgating events on June 1, 2026, and as a special thank you to long-time tailgaters, Baylor is offering a full refund to fans who have reserved a tailgate package every season since 2014.
From an imitation Baylor football field to the ample green space just to the side of McLane Stadium, Baylor’s athletics department says, “See you in the backyard. We’ll leave the gate open.”
