
Chicago Fire FC Breaks Ground on $750M Stadium
It's "game on" for a major development along the Chicago River near Roosevelt Road.
Groundbreaking is Tuesday for the Chicago Fire's new stadium.
The $750 million privately-funded stadium is the first new major stadium development in the city in decades.
In addition to a new stadium, businesses, parks and new apartments are also part of plans for The 78. Developers expect the project to create up to 15,000 jobs.
Some people who live around The 78,however, are concerned about gentrification in nearby neighborhoods.
Homestead, Fla., Breaks Ground on $275M Sports Complex
A $275 million sports complex in Homestead broke ground on Monday.
The Sports Performance Hub is set to rise on the current site of Homestead Regional Park, and the plan is to upgrade the playing fields that already exist at the park and build many more.
Homestead officials, civil leaders, shareholders and community members gathered at the site for a groundbreaking ceremony
City officials signed agreements last year with the Sports Performance Hub group, which consists primarily of former professional athletes, including NBA legend Manu Ginobili.
New Baseball Training Facility Set for Hiawatha

After playing baseball in the Big Ten for Indiana and Iowa and then in the Kansas City Royals minor league system, CJ Eldred decided he wanted to teach the next generation of players. He opened a baseball and performance facility in Hiawatha.
Eldred said players often don’t realize how close they are to the next level, whether it’s making the high school team or reaching the majors.
