
Nationwide Arena Needs $400M in Renovations
Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, is starting to show its age, and operators say it’s time for a $400 million renovation to keep the Blue Jackets and world-class concerts returning to the venue.
The Franklin County Convention Facilities Authority (FCCFA) is asking the state for a $100 million grant to kickstart a multi-year renovation. According to the authority’s executive director, Ken Paul, the goal is simple: ensure the 26-year-old barn remains "competitive, safe, and capable" of hosting premier events through 2030 and beyond.
Galena Park (Texas) ISD Breaks Ground on New $29M Indoor Athletics Facility
With construction equipment serving as the backdrop, the Galena Park Independent School District held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new $29.5 million multi-purpose facility at North Shore High School.
"This indoor facility represents so much more than just the building; it's an investment in the future of our young people," GPISD Superintendent Dr. John Moore said. "This is a facility that is for you and the future Mustangs who will follow in your footsteps," head football coach Willie Gaston added.
From the renderings, the place is going to be beautiful inside and out. It'll be safe and spacious, out of the Texas heat, for all types of activities to prepare for their competitions.
Southington Schools OK's Multi-Million-Dollar Upgrades to Athletic Facility
School officials have now awarded contracts for a major renovation of Southington High School athletic facilities.
The Southington Board of Education voted unanimously on March 12 to approve a $5.38 million project to replace tennis courts, expand parking, and install new bleachers at Southington High School, advancing a long-discussed plan aimed at addressing safety and congestion concerns.
The board, which met at the John Weichsel Municipal Center, approved awarding the project to FieldTurf USA/
