Coulee Christian School marked a significant achievement Tuesday evening with the ribbon cutting ceremony for its new $5.7 million athletic complex, celebrating years of planning and community investment.

The celebration brought together families, students and school leaders to commemorate the completion of the facility, which school officials say reflects the institution's commitment to matching its growing student enrollment with quality infrastructure.

"We've got a growing student body and it's really important that we have facilities that match the excellence and education that's going on," said Tim Trailer, school board president.

Historic Philly Rec Center Reopens After $27M Renovation

One of the city’s oldest recreation centers has reopened after a two-and-a-half-year long renovation. On Friday, Mayor Cherelle L. Parker, city and state officials, representatives of the Philadelphia Eagles, and Kingsessing community members celebrated the reopening of Kingsessing Recreation Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Through its Rebuild Philadelphia program, the City has invested $27 million to modernize the facility, which originally opened in 1916, while preserving its historic character. Upgrades include renovated interior spaces, a new artificial turf field, an accessible playground, and improved community gathering areas.

Kingsessing Recreation Center is a historic community anchor, distinguished by its Beaux Arts-style architecture and spanning more than 32,000 square feet across three levels. The renovation of Kingsessing Recreation Center caps a $35 million investment in the Kingsessing campus, which includes the recently renovated Kingsessing Library.

WIttenberg-Birnamwood ISD Unveils Plans for New Athletics Facility

Plans for a new athletic facility in the Wittenberg-Birnamwood School District were outlined in detail Tuesday night, with Superintendent Garrett Rogowski emphasizing one key point to residents: the project will have “absolutely no impact” on local taxes.

Rogowski told those in attendance that the nearly $3 million facility is the result of more than 15 years of long-term financial planning, made possible through the district’s use of Fund 46, a capital improvement account. “I think a lot of people ask, how is that even possible?” Rogowski said. “This has been a marathon, not a sprint, and it’s allowed us to do this without going to referendum.”

He explained that the district has strategically saved surplus funds over time, rather than returning to taxpayers or increasing spending, allowing it to build up reserves for large-scale projects. Rogowski added that interest generated from those savings alone has helped strengthen the district’s position. “It’s just been a creative funding mechanism that has allowed us to make what you’re going to see here happen,” he said.
