Officials Release Renderings for Future of Royals' Truman Sports Complex 

As the Kansas City Royals prepare to welcome their fans to the Truman Sports Complex in a matter of days, Jackson County’s top politician unveiled his vision for the future of the site on Thursday.

Since the early 1970s, the Truman Sports Complex has hosted Kauffman Stadium (home of the Royals) and Arrowhead Stadium (home of the Kansas City Chiefs).

But that will change in 2031. After the lease of the professional sports franchises that year, the Royals will build a new stadium at a location yet to be determined. The Chiefs already announced their intentions of building a domed stadium in Wyandotte County, Kansas.

Athens Upscale Athletic Club to Open in 2027 

With the future opening of Athens Athletic Club, Athens residents will soon have access to more than just a traditional gym. Athens Athletic Club is set to open in 2027, featuring a 61,700-square-foot facility that combines fitness training, recovery services and medical spa treatments under one roof.

The club describes itself as a comprehensive wellness concept and as Athens’ first “athletic country club,” a membership-based model with a goal of “setting the standard for wellness in Athens.”

“We saw an opportunity to create a destination where fitness, recovery and medical wellness are fully integrated under one roof,” Nick Parisian, director of membership experience, said.

New Photos Released of Albertsons Stadium Upgrade 

Progress is moving along on the North End Zone expansion at Albertsons Stadium in Boise.

Nathan Burk, Senior Associate Athletic Director for Operations & Governance, said they will debut the premium seats for the special Banana Ball event at the stadium this summer, and they will be in full operation for the first home game against Memphis in September.

As BoiseDev reported, large spaces under the new North End Zone stands will allow the school to serve food to athletes across all sports, and provide for meeting spaces for teams. On game day, the area will be used for premium fan experiences, complete with two large bars, food service and more.
