Kathy Manning Athletic Center Breaks Ground in Northwest Austin

T&C Sports' Town & Country Optimist Foundation broke ground on the first phase of the Kathy Manning Athletic Center on March 30, part of T&C's Next 50 Capital Campaign.

The 40,000-square-foot KMAC facility at 13398 Morris Road, Austin, is slated to open this November and will include indoor basketball, volleyball and futsal courts, providing year-round opportunities for practices, games, camps, indoor training and competitions.

The facility is named after Kathy Manning, who founded T&C's basketball and volleyball programs.

Murray State Completes First Phase of Baseball Field Renovation

The student-athlete and fan experience at Johnny Reagan Field has received a transformational upgrade for the 2026 season with the installation of new turf, a new scoreboard, The Murray Bank video board in right field and other significant upgrades at the home of Racer Baseball.

These donor-funded projects will see game action for the first time on April 2-4, 2026, when the Racers host a three-game series against Belmont. Game times are set for 5 p.m., 5 p.m. and 1 p.m.

"We are excited for the continued progress at Johnny Reagan Field and are grateful for those who have made this project possible," Murray State University President Dr. Ron Patterson said. "We are looking forward to the 2026 home opener on Thursday, April 2, to see all of these great projects displayed for our student-athletes, alumni and fans."

The latter, which opened in 1941 as Allen County High School before becoming a YMCA in 2000 to serve as a full recreational center, meets numerous recreational needs — but in 2017, its executive director Ernie Stafford brought the idea to the nonprofit’s board, as too many activities were happening in close proximity.

The Cube has four versatile courts designed for basketball, volleyball and pickleball as well as archery, soccer and other activities, Stafford said, and a dedicated activity room is “perfect” for gymnastics, tumbling and other programs. A large meeting room serves as a hub for community gatherings, planning sessions and events, he said.
