Gates Chili Central School District Opens New Spartan Park
The Gates Chili Central School District in Rochester, N.Y., cut the ribbon on a new athletics complex Thursday.
Spartan Park features two multipurpose turf fields outside Gates Chili Middle School.
One field is lined for baseball, while the other is lined for softball. Both can also be used for soccer and lacrosse.
Gates Chili's varsity baseball and softball teams both hosted Churchville-Chili in their home openers Thursday as part of the grand opening.
Ephrata Begins Construction on New Sports Complex
Construction on the Sports Complex Addition Project begins Monday, bringing temporary closures, a partial dog park shutdown and the start of a major, multi‑phase renovation expected to reshape one of the city’s busiest recreation hubs, Parks and Recreation Director Josh Johnson said.
The City of Ephrata will close the skate park, restrooms and the entire east side of the Sports Complex for roughly two months while crews begin phase one of construction. The large dog park will also be closed for safety.
“As construction begins, our top priority is making sure the area remains as safe as possible for the public while still maintaining access to the dog park during this transition,” Johnson said.
Only the south section of the dog park will remain open, accessible through a side gate on Lee Street SE. The gate is not a controlled pet entrance, and visitors are asked to close it behind them. There will be no separation between small and large dogs during this period.
Baseball and Softball Training Facility Opens in East Lampeter Township
A baseball and softball training facility is holding its grand opening celebration on Friday (today) and Saturday.
The Cage Baseball & Softball has opened at the Shops @Rockvale at 35 S. Willowdale Drive in East Lampeter Township, Lancaster County.
Along with event space and small retail offerings, the facility includes batting cages for both training and recreational use. The Cage opened at the end of February.
It is open from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Friday, and from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday.
