Brighton & Hove Albion FC have released plans for Europe's first purpose-built women's football stadium.
The club say the new stadium will "provide a permanent home and identity for the women's team" in an attempt to drive long-term fan growth.
Located at Bennett's Field, a site adjacent to the Amex Stadium - the home of Brighton's Premier League side - it will hold a minimum capacity of 10,000 and will be connected to the Amex via a bridge walkway.
With work under way on a planning application, the club hope to officially open the stadium for the start of the 2030-31 season.
"The prospect of a bespoke stadium, built exclusively for women's players, staff and supporters, is incredibly exciting," said the club's managing director of women's and girls' football, Zoe Johnson.
Pitt's $240M Victory Heights Sports Complex Opens
The University of Pittsburgh’s $240 million Victory Heights sports complex is on schedule to host commencement ceremonies this week and athletic competition in the fall, officials said Monday.
The facility, originally announced in January 2020, hosts dedicated practice facilities and locker rooms for Pitt gymnastics, volleyball, wrestling and spirit squads. Teams moved into the facility a few weeks ago, said Dustin Gray, deputy athletic director.
“This gives them a competitive edge over a lot of our peers,” Gray said of the facility. “This gives them a training environment that’s unparalleled to most of their competitors.”
Kalamazoo Event Center See Official Topping Out
The Kalamazoo Event Center reached a major milestone today with its official topping out, as project partners, community leaders, and construction crews gathered to celebrate the placement of the final steel beam.
The 33-foot beam completes the building’s structural framework and signals a visible turning point as the venue takes shape in downtown Kalamazoo. Topping out is a construction tradition dating back more than 1,000 years and symbolizes both the peak of the build and a moment to recognize the skilled workers bringing the project to life, including the ironworkers who placed the final beam.
“This ceremony is important to all of us,” said William D. Johnston, Chairman of Greenleaf Companies. “It’s a celebration of the ironworkers and the great work they’ve done.”
