Oklahoma City Leaders Break Ground on MAPS 4 Multipurpose Stadium
Oklahoma City leaders will break ground Monday on the new MAPS 4 Multipurpose Stadium, a $121 million project officials say will help shape Oklahoma City’s future as a hub for sports, entertainment and community events.
The stadium, which will be funded through MAPS 4, will be built south of Oklahoma City Boulevard and east of Shields Boulevard. The venue will feature approximately 10,000 seats with the ability to expand as demand grows.
City leaders say the project’s location was selected in part because it can take advantage of existing transportation and parking infrastructure. Rather than building dedicated parking for the stadium, planners intend to utilize existing parking resources and transportation options, including the Oklahoma City Streetcar.
Virginia to Open 1931 Club at Scott Stadium in 2027
Virginia athletics announced the establishment of the “1931 Club” at Scott Stadium, a premium club seating option centered on the 50-yard line of the west sideline. Renovation of the current stadium press box space will begin at the conclusion of the 2026 season and is scheduled to be available for the 2027 home opener.
The club’s name is a nod to the stadium’s first season and first game on Oct. 15, 1931 against VMI.
The new experience will deliver unmatched views of every play while setting a new standard for comfort and premium amenities. It also offers UVA’s most dedicated supporters with a unique opportunity to play a leadership role in shaping the future of Virginia Athletics.
Stars Sign Letter of Intent to Build New Arena in Plano
The Dallas Stars announced Tuesday they have signed a letter of intent for a potential new arena in the suburb of Plano.
They are proposing building a new arena at The Shops of Willow Bend as part of a potential new mixed-use development that would make it a sports and entertainment district.
The Stars said in their statement they have signed a nonbinding LOI that was submitted to the City of Plano and will go before the Plano City Council next Monday.
"This project would present a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our franchise," team owner Tom Gaglardi said in a statement. "We eagerly await the vote by the Plano City Council and look forward to continuing the conversation to be part of the redevelopment at The Shops at Willow Bend."
