Fayetteville Opens $13.4M Tennis Complex

After years of planning, construction delays and a legal dispute, Fayetteville’s newest tennis facility is finally open.

City leaders, residents and tennis enthusiasts gathered Wednesday to celebrate the ribbon-cutting of The Courts at Glenville Lake, a new $13.4 million sports complex located at 730 Filter Plant Drive near Bragg Boulevard.

The facility features 11 tennis courts, including a championship competition court, four pickleball courts, locker rooms, a lounge, learning space and a pro shop. Officials say the complex is designed to serve players of all ages and skill levels while also attracting major tournaments to the area.

Residents wasted little time putting the courts to use.

San Antonio Begins Process to Create Massive Youth Sports Complex

A massive new youth sports complex could soon be on its way to the Texas Hill Country.

The Bexar County Commissioners Court recently approved a motion to allow its staff to begin negotiations with engineering firm Pape-Davidson to develop and execute a feasibility study to see if the county can move forward with a youth sports complex and county park near the southern edge of Kendall County.

The land, located in the sprawling Lemon Creek area, about 10 minutes from Boerne, currently belongs to the Alamo Colleges District.

If approved, the 18-acre sports complex would add eight new baseball diamonds, four soccer fields and a 200-car parking lot to the area, according to slide presentations at a November commissioners court meeting.

Pueblo School District Cuts Ribbon on New Soccer Field

On Wednesday, June 3, Pueblo School District 60 (D60) opened Central High School’s new soccer field.

The field has been available for the last three months, and Central High School’s Boys Soccer Coach, TJ Thiebaut, said there is a smile on the face of each youth soccer player. Before the soccer field, there was no dedicated soccer field, requiring players to drive miles off campus, which created problems as some did not have access to transportation.

“I think it’s everything, and I don’t think it’s just to the Central Boys and Girls soccer program. I think it’s to the community, the Bessemer community. It’s another place, a great resource for the kids to come out and use that’s safe, accessible, and just a beautiful resource to have for our community,” said Thiebaut.
