The University of Florida is planning the most expensive — and potentially most comprehensive — stadium renovation in college football history, a $1.45 billion overhaul of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
The Gators unveiled details and renderings of the burgeoning project before a board of trustees meeting Thursday, providing the total budget (up from $400 million) as well as a start date (2027 offseason) and a completion date (2030 offseason).
"This $1.45 billion project will breathe new life into one of the nation's most iconic college football venues and elevate it into the premier collegiate athletic destination that sets the standard for everyone else," the board said in a statement.
Kansas City Mayor Proposes $1.4B Expansion of CPKC Stadium
Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas has introduced legislation to begin negotiations on expanding CPKC Stadium, home of the Kansas City Current, and to spur more development along the Missouri River at Berkley Riverfront.
The proposal starts a city-led development process for what officials expect to become a $1.4 billion project aimed at growing the riverfront into a larger sports and entertainment district.
Lucas calls the Current and its new stadium a major success and said the city wants to build on that momentum.
Under the plan, the stadium district would grow with increased seating capacity, more parking, trail connections and new retail.
UNC's Kenan Stadium to Undergo Update Ahead of 2026 Season
UNC football will celebrate its 100th season in Kenan Stadium during the upcoming 2026 season. In celebration of the approaching centennial, special events and commemorations are planned alongside renovations to the stadium prior to the start of the season.
To further mark the centennial, UNC athletics created a 100th season logo that will appear on merchandise and other commemorative items throughout the season. An official centennial website will also be created for event information and opportunities for fan engagement.
The most noticeable enhancements to the stadium will be new video boards, LED boards, an improved sound system and press box modernization.
The video boards will be higher definition to create a better visual experience for fans, consisting of two 31.5-foot-high Daktronics video boards to replace the previous ones on both sides of the stadium.
