MSE Unveils New Renderings of the $1B Capitol One Arena Renovation
From a new exterior to revamped fan spaces, Capital One Arena is getting a major makeover -- and we now have a first look at what’s coming.
Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) and Capital One unveiled the next chapter of Capital One Arena on Tuesday, showcasing new renderings of the $1 billion-plus transformation planned for the downtown D.C. venue.
“Washington is entering an extraordinary new era, and the completely reimagined Capital One Arena will reflect the ambition, energy, and global stature of the city it represents,” said Jim Van Stone, President of Business Operations and Chief Commercial Officer at MSE.
Broward County Plans Mixed-Use Development Around Florida Panthers' Amerant Bank Arena
Broward County is planning a massive mixed-use development for the area surrounding the Florida Panthers’ Sunrise home base.
County officials submitted an application for the project, which would bring multifamily units, commercial space, hotel rooms and green space to the 154-acre site surrounding the Amerant Bank Arena, the South Florida Business Journal reported.
The existing arena would remain, and most of the development would replace the 7,500-space parking lot. Plans call for up to 300,000 square feet of commercial space, 1.6 million square feet of office or education space and 1,400 multifamily units, 15 percent of which would be designated as affordable housing.
The application also includes 600 hotel rooms with up to 60,000 square feet of meeting space, 8 acres of open green space, 1 acre of public space and 18.8 acres of wetlands and mitigation. There could also be up to 250,000 square feet of cultural space, but that would be taken out of the office space, according to the outlet.
Texas High School Begins Construction on New Field House
Goodrich has a construction zone on campus. Near the track, a fenced area is beginning to clear for the addition of a much-needed facility.
There are plans for the athletic department to receive a 5,000-square foot fieldhouse that will sit in the southwest corner of the track.
The public will enjoy concession stands built into the structure, and there are two restrooms nearby. Inside, the boys and girls will have a locker room, restrooms and storage areas. There are offices for the coaches and a large weight room.
The facility is an investment in student-athletes at $2.4 million. That includes a new eight-lane track. Both the fieldhouse and track are expected to be complete by June of 2027.
