Northwestern Softball Welcomes Fans to Newly Opened Kirkpatrick Stadium
Northwestern Softball will welcome fans to the newly opened Kirkpatrick Stadium for opening day festivities on Saturday, Oct. 3. The event is free and open to the public.
Fan fest activities begin at 12:30 p.m., with a fall exhibition game against Bradley following at 2 p.m. CT.
Fan fest will include poster making and bracelet making tables, a face painter, food trucks, drink stations and yard games. An opening day commemorative poster will be available for fans who arrive early.
Former Northwestern Softball player and Big Ten Network analyst Sydney Supple will emcee the event, interviewing current and former Wildcats in-venue throughout the game.
Central Michigan Breaks Ground on Premier Golf Training Complex
"When the doors open," Central Michigan President Dr. Neil MacKinnon said, "this will stand as the premier golf training complex in the Mid-American Conference and rank among the finest in the nation."
MacKinnon, Zyzelewski Family Vice President/Director of Athletics Amy Folan, Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe members, donors, alumni, coaches, staff and supporters gathered on Saturday for the ceremonial groundbreaking of the university's new men's and women's golf practice facility, located immediately west of Theunissen Stadium.
"A championship-caliber project of this magnitude only happens when dedicated supporters step forward with extraordinary vision and generosity," MacKinnon said, addressing the donors specifically. "To the donors who have made today possible, you are directly responsible for shaping the future of CMU Athletics.
Synergy Sports Pitching 110-Square-Foot Sports Facility
During the Sept. 14 Finance Committee meeting, Synergy Sports presented a sports facility designed to host sporting events and athletic tournaments in the Stevens Point area.
The presentation and study was conducted by Synergy Sports on behalf of the Stevens Point Area Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The facility would house eight courts, which represent the industry baseline required to attract major tournament organizers. The proposed complex would feature space capable of hosting basketball, volleyball, pickleball, wrestling, cheer and dance competitions, trade shows, and corporate conferences.
