Hartford Athletic Cuts Ribbon Mulls Stadium Renovation
Hartford Athletic is exploring a renovation of Trinity Health Stadium that could add thousands of seats, expand suites and address what the professional soccer club’s chairman calls a major drag on revenue: rain.
“When it rains, our attendance is off by 75%,” said Bruce Mandell, Hartford Athletic’s chairman and owner of Newington direct-mail company Data-Mail Inc. “Think about that. That’s a total loss of economic value, not just for us but for the city and the state.”
That is why a roof sits at the top of a list of stadium upgrades the club is now pricing out.
Other possibilities include adding 2,000 to 2,500 seats to the roughly 5,500-seat venue, building out the suites level and adding a full-service kitchen, which the stadium has never had.
Aiken County Cuts Ribbon on New Rec Center
An extreme makeover that included the construction of a new Aiken County Recreation Center was a cause for celebration Oct. 2 in Horse Creek Valley.
“This is something that has been long overdue, especially for this area,” said Aiken County Council member P. K. Hightower, who was among the speakers during a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The upgrades will benefit her District 8 constituents and other county residents.
Archbold Academy Cuts Ribbon on Miller Athletic Complex
Six years ago, there were talks of an Archbold training facility, those talks were put into motion 2½ years ago, ground was broken 16 months ago, and that facility, now named the Miller Athletic Complex, was unveiled at a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday evening before the Wauseon-Archbold varsity football game.
Hundreds of fans and community members toured inside the facility for a couple hours, welcomed through the mains doors by the 62-yard-long patch of artificial turf.
