Kahler Slater Breaks Ground on New Dane County West Branch YMCA
Ground has officially broke ground on the new Dane County West Branch YMCA in Fitchburg, Wisconsin marking a major milestone for the new branch. Designed by Kahler Slater as a vibrant community center built for everyone, the facility focuses on promoting health, wellness, and inclusivity.
The new YMCA will replace the 58-year-old Lussier Family West YMCA in Madison and will feature an aquatics area, multi-court gymnasium and a two-story fitness center with an indoor walking and running track as well as universal locker rooms, youth activity zones, and FOREVERWELL programming for active older adults. The facility will also include a childcare center expanding local care and an Access Community Health Centers clinic will be integrated into the building. A welcoming open lobby will serve not only as an entry way but as a hub for community connection, while outdoor spaces will support programming and events.
Targeted to open in early 2028, the facility is designed around adaptability and will be equipped to evolve alongside the community it serves.
