UC Davis recently broke ground on a new Student Athlete Performance Center. The $40 million project will be a new home for the athletic department, with offices for athletic department staff, but will also serve student-athletes with spaces such as team meeting space, sports medicine rooms, academic lecture halls and an expanded weight room. Georgia Tech University began Phase II renovations on Russ Chandler Stadium, home to the school’s baseball program, on Thursday. The main portion of the project will demolish an existing one-story structure on the third-base side of the stadium, and replace it with a new 25,379-square-foot, two-story facility. That building will include a concourse-level atrium, new premium seating options, fan amenities, and an expanded indoor training facility with three batting cages, two pitching tunnels and a player development center. The University of North Texas recently broke ground on its new men’s and women’s golf facility. The 5,000-square-foot facility, to be named for donor Bruzzy Westheimer, will include a coaches’ offices, locker rooms for both teams, a study area, a virtual putting green and a player lounge. NTB Bank Stadium, home of the Syracuse Mets, as part of a $25 million renovation project recently installed upgraded lighting in the ballpark. Locally based Ephesus Sports Lighting installed a new $500,000 lighting system that will allow for new lighting effects that will help to enhance the fan experience and atmosphere.
