The future has arrived. Fred Fitness is billed as “L.A.’s first AI-powered fitness club.” It opened in early February, and while AI aims to enhance the gymgoers’ experience, the club still employs full-time trainers to guide the user experience.
As reported by Fox 11 Los Angeles, Fred Fitness offers free assessments to new potential members. The AI-powered machines will assess a person’s cardio, strength, mobility and metabolic states and provide a report on your fitness level.
From there, a mixture of information from artificial intelligence and trainer guidance will create a tailored fitness plan for members, where AI presets what machines will be used day-by-day, automatically sets the correct weight levels and adjusts based on user preferences.
“It takes a lot of the thinking out of it,” said reporters at Fox 11 News.
On Fred Fitness’s website, the company describes the experience as, “a gym that knows you better than you know yourself.”
Memberships start at $150 per month and run on a month-to-month basis, with no annual contracts. For a limited time, Fred Fitness is offering their initial fitness assessment for free, but that price will increase to $99 later.
The AI-powered gym revolution is the next step in the fitness industry that professionals have forecasted for quite some time. It takes wearable technology like Garmin and Apple Watch to the next level as gymgoers can now have immediate insights into their fitness levels and ideal workout plans at the machine-level.
The cutting-edge machines at Fred Fitness are supplied by Matrix and Egym, and the gym centers its technology at ‘the fitness hub’ where users can track their progress.
