A groundbreaking ceremony was held this week for the Middle Branch Fitness and Wellness Center at Reedbird Park in Cherry Hill in Baltimore. The $23.1 million project will include a lap pool, a plunge pool with a slide, a wading pool, an open fitness area, fitness studios, a basketball gymnasium, a second-story walking track and a maker space. The University of North Texas is on track to bring its new 5,000-square-foot golf practice facility online in 2021. Will Rogers High School in Tulsa, Okla., held its first football game at the new Henry Frnka Jr. Field at Will Rogers Stadium on Thursday. The $4.5 million project is the first home field for the high school, which previously played its games at University of Tulsa facilities. Newberry College (S.C.) received a $2.5 million anonymous gift to support the construction of the Athletic and Academic Achievement Center at historic Setzler Field. The facility will include amenities such as team locker rooms for football, lacrosse and field hockey; coaches’ offices; classrooms; team meeting rooms and other student-athlete support space.
