A hostage situation at a Seattle fitness club was peacefully resolved Wednesday evening.
According to KOMO News, Seattle police responded to a dispute at PNW Fitness around 6:40 in city's Capitol Hill district.
The dispute led to a 42-year-old man pulling out a gun and holding multiple people hostage.
"I had been working out with my headphones in, and I could see that there were some people that were agitated," said a witness who was working out at PNW Fitness at the time of the incident. "So I took my headphones out, and I could hear that there was a little bit of a ruckus that was going on, so I started to look around. At that point in time that I went around and saw the guy with the gun."
A witness reported that one of the hostages knew the gunman. The same witness said that the gunman kicked one of the hostages at one point during the incident.
People in the surrounding neighborhood were told to lock down, and Seattle's hostage negotiation team was able to speak with the man, which led to his peaceful surrender. The incident reportedly lasted roughly two hours.
Seattle police chief Adrian Diaz said that a 42-year-old man was taken into custody by the SWAT team and booked into the King County Jail for assault and unlawful imprisonment.
