Crews are working to secure a structurally unsound fitness club building in Salem, Va., after a vehicle crashed into the structure last week.

No one was inside the building Thursday when the crash happened,  WDBJ-TV reported Monday. Surveillance video shows the vehicle being driven into E3 Fitness in Salem on West Main Street.

According to the report, the driver lost consciousness on the road, and is in a hospital with injuries.

The car was still in the building Monday afternoon, days after the wreck, because the way the wreck happened caused the building to be unstable, and engineers are working on a way to safely get the car out and secure the building, WDBJ-TV reported.

No one is allowed inside the building until it's deemed stable.

Since the crash, E3 Fitness instructors are leading all their classes out in the parking lot. Jay Ezelle explained he’s grateful for all the community support they’ve received over the last few days.

”It’s going to take a lot more than a vehicle inside our building to stop us from doing what we’re supposed to be doing, and so we’re helping create a culture of people that want to continue getting better, healthier and fitter,” Ezelle told WDBJ-TV.

The building’s owner is not charging rent while construction takes place in order to minimize business loss.

Damage estimates are more than $100,000. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up for the gym.
