Michelle Butler seeks a minimum of $25,000 for injuries she says her son sustained during a youth recreation basketball game.
If you've ever questioned the need to hold on to all documentation stemming from injuries occurring on your premises, consider the suit filed in late September against the city of Mansfield, Ohio. Michelle Butler is seeking a minimum of $25,000 for injuries she says her son sustained almost 20 months earlier (Feb. 8, 2007) during a youth recreation basketball game at Mansfield's Bingo Hall gymnasium. The lawsuit alleges that a building leak made the floor wet and slippery, and that the city recreation director allowed the game to be played, although the floor was mopped during the game. According to family attorneys, the child fell, broke his jaw and lost four teeth; city attorneys told the Mansfield News Journal that the city had had no formal contact with the family between the incident and the filing of the lawsuit.
