Blissfield (Mich.) Community Schools canceled all classes in the district Tuesday due to a "mold-like substance" being found in the high school's gymnasium.
As reported by CBS affiliate WTOL in Toledo, Ohio, the cancellation is a "precautionary measure" so cleaning and testing can take place. The substance was found on "some hard surfaces" in an isolated area of the gym, the district reported on social media.
WTOL's Andrew Bailey reported Monday that the district hoped to return to class by Wednesday, adding that it also chose to cancel classes at the middle and elementary schools because the high school's cancellation puts district attendance below the state-required threshold of 75% for it to count as a school day. All three schools sit on the same campus in the southern end of the village.
"Sorry for the inconvenience, we will work diligently to solve this issue," the district said, as reported by WTOL.
