The gymnasium roof at a public school in Burlington, Ont., partially collapsed after it was closed recently due to safety concerns.
The gym at Glenview Public School was closed to all students and staff prior to the school closing for the summer, CHCH-TV reported. The structural collapse happened on Sunday, only two days after students left for break.
The Halton District School Board said there was no one inside the building at the time of the collapse and staff and student wellbeing is of highest priority.
The school community and staff have been notified about the incident and will continue to be updated in the weeks ahead.
On Tuesday afternoon, a drone pilot was taking aerial images and scanning the building to help determine the cause of the incident, BurlingtonToday.com reported. Noises coming from inside the school could also be heard, though the entire parking lot was empty and nobody was seen entering or exiting the building.

The school is closed to all visitors. No information was provided as to what the plan is for the school, staff, or students in September.
The HDSB said a structural engineering company had been secured to examine the roof prior to its collapse and they will continue to work with the company to determine next steps.
In the meantime, a fence has been placed around the gym to secure the site.
