UNLV Athletics will be getting a little help from local commerce with the building of a new state-of-the-art football complex.

The university announced on Monday that the Las Vegas Sands will donate $1 million towards the Rebel’s Feritatta Football Complex, which is set for a Jan. 23 groundbreaking.

UNLV director of athletics, Desiree Reed-Francois, thanked the Sands for its generosity.  “The Complex and the opening of our new stadium in 2020 will have a profound impact on our university and on our beloved city and with leaders like the Sands out in front, Las Vegas can become the epicenter of sports in this country.”

UNLV Athletics received its largest gift ever from the Fertitta family, which donated $10 million towards the facility back in September. The Feritatta Football Complex is a 73,000-square-foot, two-level facility that will include an academic center, locker rooms, offices, meeting rooms, strength & conditioning center, media room, training table and nutrition bar, athletic training center and player lounge.
