The Philadelphia Phillies this week announced implementation of new technology at Citizens Bank Park that will allow fans to enter the stadium via facial recognition.

Fans can simply register using the MLB Ballpark app, and all tickets tied to their account will be enrolled for Go-Ahead Entry.

MLB’s Go-Ahead Entry technology uses a camera that will recognize any opted-in fan as a registered member as they walk in - either alone or with their group - automatically scanning tickets once identified. With the new tech, fans won't need to stop or even get a phone out.

How it works:

  1. Register for free using the latest version of the MLB Ballpark app and ensure tickets to the upcoming game are on the fan's MLB Ballpark app account.
  2. Fans enter the Go-Ahead Entry Lane and Citizens Bank Park's First Base Gate.
  3. Approach the gate to enter hands-free.
  4. When fans arrive at the ballpark they can proceed through the Go-Ahead Entry lane, and all individuals will be scanned by the facial authentication cameras for entry.
