An estimate included in the agenda for Thursday's Las Vegas Stadium Authority Board meeting now puts the cost of the new stadium for the former Oakland A's at $1.75 billion — up $250 million from what team officials originally expected.

As reported by NBC affiliate KSNV, Thursday's meeting will consider approving non-relocation, development and lease agreements with the Athletics.

"Hard costs" are estimated at $1.45 billion, per the agenda, while financing costs will reach $52 million and "soft costs & other" will be $248 million.

Team owner John Fisher wrote in a letter to the board that he and his family would commit up to $1.1 billion to construct the stadium, according to supporting material for Thursday's meeting, according to KSNV, which added that U.S. Bank and Goldman Sachs also confirmed they are ready to lend an additional $300 million in financing.

"As the Authority is aware, the relocation of the Athletics to Las Vegas is the culmination of a sustained effort by our organization to develop a new state-of-the-art stadium for our team and its fans," Fisher's letter reads, as reported by KSNV. "We have expended many millions of dollars and years of hard work to make this happen and are excited to begin a new chapter in Las Vegas."

Public funding for stadium construction is capped at $380 million, secured through a legislative special session last year. The projected cash budget estimates using only $350 million of that money, and any cost overruns will be the A's responsibility.

The Stadium Authority Board will determine if Fisher's pledge satisfies the requirement for "adequate financial security" to build the stadium at the site of the Tropicana hotel-resort, according to the agenda for Thursday's meeting.

According to KSNV's Matthew Seeman, the newest version of the non-relocation agreement also states the Athletics would be allowed to play up to four home games outside of the stadium, and up to seven home games away in any two consecutive seasons. The A's faced pushback when an earlier draft of the non-relocation agreement said the team could play up to seven home games away from Las Vegas in a season.

Team officials said they expect the stadium to be completed in time for the 2028 MLB season, with the A's playing in Sacramento, Calif., in the interim.
