The USA Basketball Men’s Olympic Team has won five gold medals in a row at the Summer Games and 17 gold medals total. On Feb. 18, Netflix highlighted the hard work and intense competition last year’s team faced in order to win gold at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
‘Court of Gold,’ a six-episode docuseries about the 2024 Olympic basketball competition showed viewers a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to win gold. But for one company, Junckers, it was more than content for a weekend binge-watch, it was a chance to see their products reach new heights.
“You could say that we provide the stage for the show. Of course, it’s fantastic exposure for our products. Throughout the games, you're focused on the performance of the floor, so you don’t have time to appreciate the moment. But now, seeing it captured in the documentary, we can relive the success knowing it all ended well—at least for Junckers and Team USA,” said Thomas Bendixen, CEO of Junckers.
Junckers, a sports court manufacturer, created the court for the Paris Olympics. The company had previously supplied courts for FIBA World Cup, Eurobasket and other international competitions, but the step up to the Olympics was significant.
The unique court continued Paris’s color scheme of light pinks and blues that highlighted a traditional wood center. Inside the arc was a pattern of diamonds and basketball icons, and at center court were the Olympic rings.
Said Bendixen, "Seeing our product live during the games and featured in the documentary was a moment of immense pride on multiple levels. As a businessman, I’m incredibly proud of the impact it has had on Junckers and all the positive feedback we have received. Witnessing the IOC’s court design brought to life on our sports floors with our paints and lacquers truly validated our efforts.”
Bendixen watched the games in person, witnessing the intense rivalry between the U.S., Serbia and France play out on his company’s court. Ultimately, the U.S. won gold once again, France secured the silver medal and Serbia earned bronze.
“And I love that the show is called 'Court of Gold'. Maybe we should use that as a slogan from now on,” said Benedixen.
