Las Vegas, NV (October 24th, 2018) – At the World Waterpark Association’s (WWA) Annual Symposium and Trade Show this year, WhiteWater celebrated winning a Leading Edge Award alongside the City of Grand Prairie, American Resort Management, OpenAire, and Ramaker for our work at Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark in Grand Prairie, Texas. WWA’s Leading Edge Awards are awarded to individuals and parks for creativity in the development of new themes, facilities, programs, services, or products and operational concepts in the water attractions industry.
WhiteWater’s work at Epic Waters showcases an impressive slide complex that is home to “firsts” both in the United States and in the world. Amongst some of the park’s most iconic features is their Constrictor + Boomerango fusion—a combination of two slides into one—which is the world’s first inner tube fusion slide.
Epic Waters is also home to the 69 feet high “LassoLoop”, the tallest indoor AquaLoop in the United States, and the “AquaNaut”, North America’s very first 2-person inner tube AquaSphere. In addition to these “firsts”, Epic Waters also houses a 4-lane mat racing Whizzard slide named the E Racers, a Freefall slide that allows riders to free fall over 60 feet at an incredible speed of 38 miles per hour, and Rascal’s Roundup, an AquaPlay 1050.
To top it off, Epic Waters, at 80,000 square feet is the largest indoor water park under a single retractable roof in the United States. This ground-breaking project is a testament to the success achieved from the public and private sectors working together—the city of Grand Prairie’s citizens voted for a quarter-cent sales tax to fund the project, while private vendors behind the development collaborated with the city to create a dream park for citizens.
The choices of water slides and attractions were carefully planned so as to appeal to a wide group of guests from all ages and backgrounds. The park gives families the chance to truly spend quality time together across generations while having fun on some of the most iconic water slides in the world.
WhiteWater is proud to be a part of our contribution to this “parks and rec” facility that is today on par with any private park in the U.S. The hope is that Epic Waters will inspire other cities and recreation departments to push the boundaries of what’s possible and bring incredible play experiences to their communities.
