Students will be able to borrow equipment at three campus sites without stopping at an equipment desk.
University of Kansas students will soon be able to borrow sports equipment without stopping at an equipment desk. Three self-serve kiosks from 2play Sports will go live at the following locations:
- Ambler Student Recreation Fitness Center
- Central Field
- Student tennis and volleyball courts
Each kiosk will be stocked with balls, rackets and yard games like Spikeball. Students just scan the QR code with their phone, grab what they need, and drop it back in the same locker when the game's over. The kiosks run on their own 24/7, so students can stay active even after the rec center desk closes.
Placing equipment where students already play makes it easier to turn a free hour between classes into a pickup game, and puts KU's outdoor courts and fields to more use. Rental fees and donations go back to KU Recreation.
