High school athletic departments in Ohio would definitely like fries with that. As a part of the High School Sports Digital Fundraiser Day on Sept. 26, 260 high school athletic departments will receive donations from local McDonalds, pledging to give 10% of all in-app sales to the schools.
The High School Sports Digital Fundraiser is in its second year. The funds from McDonald’s go toward improving facilities, enhancing athletic programs and providing new opportunities for student-athletes.
Megan Brumfield, an owner/operator of an Ohio McDonald’s told the Scioto Valley Guardian, “We are proud to have these connections in the communities that we serve. This is the second year of the digital fundraiser, where all Ohio area owners/operators have come together to show our support for local high school athletics. Our hope is that the local communities will come out to support their high schools and help us make the High School Sports Digital Fundraiser Day a success throughout the state.”
Each high school participating in the event will receive a minimum of $260, regardless of the amount ordered in the app. The schools span across the state, from Cincinnati and Dayton to Toledo and Zanesville.
This McDonalds’ and high schools’ partnership is the kind of fundraiser NFHS promoted in an online article citing the importance of community involvement in school fundraisers.
According to the NFHS article, “In addition to generating extra funds, they can also serve to connect and involve the community. These happenings can become an annual tradition, if they grow and are repeated for a few years. As a matter of fact, ultimate success may actually depend upon encompassing community support and participation.”
Ohio McDonald’s and schools are encouraging their community to come together and enjoy a meal as they prepare for the second annual High School Sports Digital Fundraiser, following the NFHS fundraising North Star.
